Portraits of the Pineta 1903 family: Irene Ferrara
Maiorese, 24, came to Pineta 1903 thanks to her sister Sabrina, who had already worked at the restaurant during the summer season for a few years. A communications student in Bologna, she tells us about her experience in this interview.
What brought you here to Pineta in 1903?
I had worked in the past at a smaller restaurant also here in Maiori. However, I wanted to try my hand at a larger venue this year. So when I learned through my sister that Carlo de Filippo was looking for staff, I applied.
What do you do?
I’m a wild card. I bring dishes, make drinks if needed, and set and clear the table. I always try to be helpful and help my colleagues.
What do you like about this job?
Several things. First of all, the location. Working under this lemon grove is beautiful, especially seeing the sun’s rays through the leaves. I like the customers and think it is a lovely opportunity to tell tourists about my area through food. Finally, my colleagues. We are all the same age; sometimes, a glance is enough to understand each other. All this makes the work much more manageable and serene.
